The design possibilities are endless when it comes to creating an elegant, inviting dedicated media room. The first bit of advice here is to take stock of what you already have in your home.
My equipment includes:
-Television
-TV Box
-Computer equipment
-Computer Networks (Router)
Then decide:
-What type of video (Live TV, Movies, Standard/High Definition) would you like to watch?
-Do you want to listen to Audio in more than one room and/or on portable devices?
This will generally be the starting point for all your multimedia plans and the choices for the technologies you make. Your final solution may be unique to your personal requirements and you may end up using a number of different types of hardware, software and network solutions to reach your goal.
Below are some examples of what you may already have and what you could do with them.
Sony KDL-55W800B 55-inch 3D LED HDTV
I do not recommend using a projector as your main display in a living room for there is usually too much ambient light, and it just is not the look most families want for their main meet-and-greet space. In my eyes, flat screen TVs, especially large ones, are the ideal display for a living room theater.
From deciding on the right TV size for your room and how far away you should sit, to figuring out whether you want a Full HD or 4K HDR TV, LED or OLED, you can find all the tips you need on the Internet to pick the right TV for you.
For my recommendation of the best TV for most living rooms, I wound up with Sony KDL-55W800B 55-inch 3D LED HDTV
It is one of the latest big screen LED TVs which combines premium design with 1080p (Full HD) display that delivers a healthy suite of smart features and 3D functionality. With a diagonal size of 54.6-inches plus a very thin frame, it offers a winning combination of smart features and picture quality.
Note: you should be aware that this TV does not offer the widest viewing angle: low-luminance reds will not look as rich and realistic as they could, appearing hazy and overly luminous instead.

Netgear R6300 WiFi Router
Netgear R6300 WiFi Router is the second router on the market to support 5G Wi-Fi standard. With a 5G Wi-Fi chip from Broadcom, it supports the three-stream standard to offer up to 1.3Gbps on the 5GHz frequency band. On the 2.GHz band, the router also supports the latest three-stream version of Wireless-N to offer data rates of up to 450Mbps.
Netgear offered really fast performance, and great range in my testing. The router has a very robust home network management program called Netgear Genie, available in desktop, mobile, and Web versions.
On the downside, the R6300 is bulky. Its storage performance, when coupled with an external hard drive, also was not as good as some others. All in all, if you are looking for a top-notch wireless router for both existing Wi-Fi devices and future clients that support 802.11ac, the Netgear R6300 is the way to go.

Mi TV Box
The Mi Box is to take on devices like Roku, Apple TV, Android TV and Fire TV. Sporting features like integrated Google Cast and voice search, the 4K- and HDR-supporting device is a good value.
I like Mi Box because it delivers 4K/HDR streaming at a lower price point than rivals like Roku's 4K-ready Premiere, Premiere+ and Ultra, or the high-end NVIDIA Shield. Meanwhile, Mi Box will support 4K Ultra HD and the HDR10 standard (the latter, enabled from Android N and onwards).
Its user experience truly makes someone love their device, and on the other hand, being built on top of Android TV has pluses and minuses;
Kodi does not come installed and needs to be downloaded. The box will run Kodi 17.1 Krypton but I would suggest staying with Kodi 16.1 Jarvis.
Mi Box also ships with an annoying row of "Mi Box Recommends" app links. This includes a bunch of standard fare, like Netflix, Sling TV
