Astrotec S60 Single Knowles Balanced Armature Truly wireless earphone

Astrotec is a company that doesn’t seems to have much of a name in the headphone business, even though it has been found back in 2002 making and designing headphone for others. Yet what Astrotec did with the release of S60 under their own brand, as one of the cheapest Single Knowles Balanced Armature Truly wireless earphone did win some attention.

The S60 come nicely packaged and it is always great to see when a budget-tier IEM looks fancier than a more than thousand-dollar flagship. Astrotec uses a very durable carton that contrasts a reflective design of the packaged in-ears with the company logo.

Build quality is where Astrotec truly excels. The upper metal housing promises a durable look and the power indicator light shines a sleek glow. Yet the charging case is too small to give a big battery capacity: it can operate for 12 hours with capacity provided by the charging case.

Besides, it has the instant pairing: after being taken out of the charging chase, the earphones automatically connect to the paired device and when it is not in the charging case, it can automatically shut down and charge the earphones. S60 also has a waterproof rating of IPX5 and is resistant to sweat and rain. As long as you don’t need deep insertion, I can see no reason how the S60 could cause discomfort as well. There are two physical buttons on both side of the earbuds, which are made to get through or hang off the phone call. Yet it lacks the music and volume controls you might be accustomed to in wired earbuds.

With Knowles Balanced Armature driver, S60 presents a very warm and fairly musical sound, with a full sounding bass. Treble is clean, very well extended but smooth, capable of showing a good degree of fine detail. Mid is warm and full, slightly forward with a sweet vocal. What’s more, as is known to us, as the audio signal has to transmit to one earbud and then sync to the other, all true wireless headphones so far have a delay when you’re watching video, for some, the latency creates a noticeable delay in the audio from what you see on screen. While as for this one, it’s barely perceptible.

Meizu POP True Wireless Bluetooth Earphone
MEIZU POP is the first wireless Meizu Bluetooth earphones especially designed for sport and exercise with dual wireless design. With no wires for a tangle-free experience, the set comes with a charging box for storage and wireless charging, delivering extreme simplicity and convenience.
The ergonomically crafted in-ear earphones fit perfectly in your ears and won’t fall out even during heavy exercise such as running and weight training. Each earphone weighs 5.8g, the smooth, round body comfortably fixes in your ear for extended periods of time. POP also has a waterproof rating of IPX5 and is resistant to sweat and rain.

It’s worth mentioning that POP uses a touch control to operate. With a touch you can listen to music, make calls and access Voice Assistant. By using touch controls instead of physical buttons, POP avoids the noise of pushing a button interfering with the call and reduces the pressure on the ear canal.

Besides, the POP earphone box features a USB Type-C charging interface that’s compatible with all mainstream wireless chargers for easy charging. A pair of fully charged earphones can operate for 3 hours continuously, plus an extra 12-hour capacity provided by the earphone box — more than you need for all-day use.

More importantly, Meizu POP offers crystal clear stereo sound, with audio data transmitted to both earphones. The sealed structure of the integrated microphone cavity and noise reduction technologies reduce background noise and echo, making the conversation effect as clear as face-to-face communication. Also, it adopts a φ6.0 mm Hi-Fi dynamic graphene diaphragm that provides extended low frequency, powerful sound and balanced tri-frequency. The front cavity employs an air-pressure balance design to minimize pressure in the ear canal for maximum comfort.
Just like the former one, it is Open-to-connect for convenient charging: the earphone box supports smart on/off using magnetic induction. The earphones automatically start when you take them out of the box, and automatically switch off and start charging when you put them back in the box. A Bluetooth device can be automatically paired when the earphones start up, so you can listen to music straight away.
EDIFIER TWS3
It is a pity to say that EDIFIER TWS3 has the worst performance among all the products I’ve mentioned in this article. It comes with a casual and sporty style, much like the BOSE SoundSport. Also, it is the heaviest of all the three. Unlike the other two, this one only support an IPX4 waterproof rating.

When it comes to the sound quality, while mids and highs wouldn’t make you believe the EDIFIER TWS3 was a budget-tier IEM, sadly, the lows do so. Also, its Bluetooth v4.2 does not ensure stable and strong connection.
